About the role:

Are you ready to take the next step in your career and make a real difference at NLMD? We’re looking for an ambitious and compassionate Deputy Manager to support the Team Manager in leading our short stay accommodation service for people facing multiple disadvantage. This is more than just a job - it’s a chance to step into a leadership role where the work you do every day will change lives.

At NLMD, we support adults who have experienced homelessness and rough sleeping, many of whom are living with the challenges of substance use, mental health needs, trauma, and poor health. As a Deputy Manager, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the service: leading and inspiring the team, ensuring smooth day to day operations, and stepping in to lead whenever the Team Manager is away. You’ll also contribute directly to support planning and risk management, making sure that residents feel safe, respected, and supported.

The impact of this role is powerful. You’ll be helping to create an environment where residents can begin to rebuild their lives; accessing healthcare, pursuing education and employment, and strengthening their connections with the community. By supporting both the team and the people we work with, you’ll be at the heart of helping residents move towards stability, independence, and hope for the future.

This is also a unique opportunity to grow your own career within SHP. You’ll gain invaluable leadership experience, develop your professional skills, and be supported to progress as part of a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation. If you’re motivated, ready for responsibility, and passionate about tackling homelessness, this role will give you the platform to make a lasting impact - on both the lives of residents and your own career journey.

When you are completing your application please answer the 4 areas below and please put n/a to areas 5, 6 and 7:

  • Give an example of when you led a team or project. How did you promote good practice and maintain high standards throughout?
  • Tell us about a situation where you worked closely with other professionals or agencies. How did your communication and problem-solving help achieve a positive result?
  • Share an example of how you supported someone facing multiple challenges in a fast-paced setting. What did you do to meet their needs effectively?
  • Describe a time you coordinated support for a complex case. How did you manage risk and ensure steady progress towards goals?
