About the Role:

For a young person who has felt stuck, disconnected or unsure what comes next, the right opportunity can be the thing that changes everything. As our Youth Opportunities Coordinator in Greenwich, you’ll create the spaces, experiences and encouragement that help young people build confidence, discover what they are capable of and take meaningful steps towards greater independence.

You’ll lead a varied programme of activities across our young person's accommodation services, bringing together opportunities around education, training and employment, life skills, wellbeing, creativity, sport, pre-tenancy preparation and personal development. Some sessions you’ll deliver yourself; others you’ll shape alongside colleagues, community organisations and specialist providers. The aim is simple: make the programme relevant, engaging and worth showing up for.

A big part of the role is understanding what can sit behind disengagement. You’ll work creatively with young people who may be NEET (young people who are not currently in education, employment or training), have experienced trauma or struggled to engage with traditional services, using psychologically informed, trauma-informed and person-centred approaches to build trust and motivation. You’ll also coach frontline colleagues to run effective activities of their own, helping opportunities become part of everyday life across the services.

This is a role with real scope to create, test and improve. You’ll be part of a wider Opportunities team, sharing ideas and good practice while developing your own expertise in youth engagement, group work and programme delivery. You’ll also have access to Single Homeless Project's (SHP) learning and development opportunities, helping you build specialist skills to grow your career across the organisation.

About you:

  • You know how to connect with young people who may be reluctant to engage, and can turn curiosity, creativity and persistence into meaningful participation.
  • You have experience designing, coordinating or delivering engaging groups, activities or programmes for young people.
  • You understand trauma-informed and psychologically informed ways of working, and can balance empathy, professional boundaries and appropriate challenge.
  • You’re confident building relationships with colleagues, community organisations and specialist services to open up new opportunities for young people.
  • You’re organised, adaptable and full of ideas, with the confidence to take ownership of a programme while working collaboratively with others

About Us:

We’re London’s leading homelessness charity – and we get things done.

In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.

We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.

Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.

We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.
