We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to join SHP as a Trainee Support Worker working within our supported Accommodation service, in the borough of Redbridge (Ilford, Essex).
SHP (Single Homeless Project) is one of London’s leading homelessness prevention charities and a dynamic and growing organisation changing 8,000 lives every year across London - from supporting people in crisis, to helping them take the final steps towards independence and employment.
Our Redbridge Accommodation Services consists of three hostels specialising in supporting people with a history of rough sleeping and homelessness. These services provide temporary and longer term accommodation for people who may have complex needs or associated difficulties relating to mental health, substance and alcohol use and trauma.
You will be working in a varied and rewarding role, within a committed and supportive team that works with clients to develop their independent living skills and promotes social inclusion in the community. We will provide you with a structured training programme, on the job training and the support to develop your own learning and practice through team work.

Additionally, you will provide support to enable clients to achieve the objectives they jointly created in their support and action plans. The support will also include supporting clients with routine tasks that help them to achieve their goals; relating to training, education or employment and independent living skills.
We are seeking motivated, committed and creative individuals with strong interpersonal communication skills. You will be selected for your attitude and aptitude and our recruitment processes will enable you to evidence your transferable skills.
As a Trainee Support Worker you will be working a shift rota, which will involve working early, late and sleep-in shifts, including some weekends.
