About the role:
Are you driven by the chance to make a real difference in people’s lives, while working in a way that fits around yours? Whether you’re looking for flexible day, evening, night or weekend shifts, or short-term placements as they arise, SHP’s Locum Bank offers the opportunity to step into vital frontline services across London, support people through pivotal moments, and be part of work that changes lives.
As a Locum, you’ll support people experiencing homelessness, multiple disadvantage and inequality to build safety, stability and independence. You could be working in supported accommodation, floating support, young people’s services, women’s specialist services and refuges, refugee and resettlement services, Housing First, mental health services, or pathways for people with experience of the criminal justice system. Your shifts may involve one-to-one support, welfare checks, helping clients settle into accommodation, supporting practical tasks, responding to immediate needs, updating records, or working alongside colleagues to keep services safe, welcoming and focused on each person’s goals.
Locum work at Single Homeless Project (SHP) can be much more than a flexible role. It’s a chance to explore different services, build confidence across a range of specialisms, and discover the kind of work that really lights you up. Many of our locum workers go on to secure permanent roles with us after getting to know our teams, our clients and the areas of work they feel most passionate about.
You’ll receive essential induction and core training, work alongside experienced and committed colleagues, and develop hands-on skills across a wide range of client groups and service settings. With services across London, you’ll have flexibility over where and when you work, while playing a vital role in SHP’s mission to prevent homelessness and transform lives.

About you:
About us:
We’re London’s leading homelessness charity – and we get things done.
In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.
We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.
Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.
We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.
